Hotels (+34%), restaurants (+26%) and supermarkets (+22%) the three search categories with the largest increase in the year
With a total increase in 2024 of around 50 million sessions (+26% YOY), the Italiaonline directories network consisting of PagineGialle, PagineBianche and TuttoCittà reaches a record 238.9 million total sessions, marking an extraordinary milestone in 2024 that confirms them as an essential tool for SMEs and advertisers.
Specifically, PagineGialle reaches +22%, from 111.4 to 135.6 million sessions; PagineBianche reaches +7%, with more than 53.3 million sessions compared to 49.6 in 2023; but it is TuttoCittà that makes the most significant leap, with an increase of 73% for a total of 50 million sessions, compared to 28.8 last year.
In addition to traffic, engagement also recorded an unprecedented increase. In 2024, Italiaonline’s online directories generated 2.2 million additional leads for customers, reaching a total of 18.8 million qualified contacts (+14% YOY), divided between PagineGialle, with 16.9 million leads (+14%) and PagineBianche, with 1.85 million leads (+11%).
Among the categories with the highest increase in user searches are Hotels (+34%) and Restaurants (+26%), which testify to the growth trend in tourism and consumption away from home, with a positive trend independent of seasonality. This is closely followed by the Supermarkets and Discounts category (+22%) and also the Banks and Credit Institutions category (+10%), where the reduction in interest rates has stimulated the search for financial solutions.
With an active reach of 21% of Italians and a user base strongly oriented towards the search for practical information, online directories are confirmed as the most effective drive-to-store tool for local businesses. In addition to offering visibility, the network facilitates the connection between businesses and consumers thanks to proprietary marketplaces such as PagineGialle Casa, for booking services, and PagineGialle Shop, for selling products online.
‘2024 was a golden year for Italiaonline’s online directories,’ says Roberto Pierri, Chief Directories and Local Marketplaces Officer. ’We added 50 million sessions in one year, while improving engagement by double digits and generating millions of additional leads for our customers. An organic growth that we can consider unique in the Italian digital landscape. Today, more than one Italian in five interacts with our properties to find answers to concrete needs. These numbers represent a certainty for small and medium-sized Italian companies, but also for micro and nano enterprises: being present on online directories means accessing a qualified and proactive user base, primarily interested in proximity information. A visibility that is not only a strategic choice, but a necessity for those who want to grow in the Italian market.’
